"Due to the ongoing construction boom and the good economy, steel is in great demand. But its production is very resource and energy intensive. A new process developed by econsteel can be an important step forward in protecting the environment " says Alexander Bonde, Secretary General of the BDU.
On Friday, the 21st of December, we welcomed the Secretary General of the DBU (German Environment Foundation), Mr. Alexander Bonde.
To start the new project of the company in Rottweil, which is funded by the DBU,the Secretary General was convinced of the current state of affairs. “Due to the ongoing construction boom and the good economy, steel is in great demand. But its production is very resource and energy intensive. A new process developed by econsteel can be an important step forward in protecting the environment“emphasizes Alexander Bonde.
After econsteel had developed a new sort of steel in a previous DBU project, a mechanical machining process for hardening the surface will now be developed. If this works successfully, the combination of new material and mechanical hardening could save almost 99 percent of greenhouse gases compared to the previous production and manufacturing process. In addition, no material waste in the form of chips is produced, which further increases resource efficiency.
